About the Role
The Maynooth University Access Office is currently recruiting a MAP Student Advisor to join their dedicated team. This role supports the University’s mission of integrating excellent research and education with a focus on facilitating access and progression for a diverse student body. The MAP (Maynooth Access Programme) Student Advisor specifically focuses on supporting students from groups identified in the National Access Plan 2022-2028 as having historically low participation in higher education. These groups include socio-economically disadvantaged students, mature students, holders of further education awards, lone parents, refugees, protection applicants, care-experienced individuals, students with disabilities, and members of the Traveller and Roma communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer tailored, student-centered support through individual and group consultations to help students navigate university life.
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify additional academic, personal, and financial supports for students.
- Coordinate and oversee the integrated delivery of a wide range of support services, both internal and external, to students from NAP priority groups.
- Collaborate with colleagues across various university departments and external stakeholders to enhance the support network.
- Specialize in assistive technology support within the broader advisory service, ensuring appropriate accommodation and resources.
- Report primarily to the MAP Student Advisory Manager, contributing to a multidisciplinary team involving outreach, student welfare, clinical, technical, and administrative professionals.
Role Context
The position is based within Maynooth University's Access Office and reflects a commitment to equity and inclusion. Reporting lines may evolve with future organizational changes as the MAP service expands. The appointee will play a key role in upholding the University’s commitment to equality of opportunity.
