Assistant Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

MiCiM is seeking a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor eager for diverse experiences and the chance to work on significant construction assignments throughout the UK and Europe. Ideal candidates are based in Ireland and seek the flexibility and adventure of traveling to various project locations.

Under the guidance of seasoned Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, you will actively participate in all stages of project delivery—from tendering to final account—developing your capabilities through practical tasks and meaningful responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with tendering and pre-construction activities including taking measurements from drawings, preparing pricing schedules and Bills of Quantities, evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids, and supporting value engineering and cost planning efforts.
• Support project commercial management by maintaining accurate records, managing variations, valuations, change control processes, and handling project correspondence using MiCiM’s cost management tools.
• Participate in procurement by preparing tender enquiry packages, analyzing tenders, assisting in subcontract order placements, and maintaining procurement schedules.
• Contribute to change management and cost control through valuation and administration of compensation events, and preparation of Contract Variation Requests (CVRs), commercial reports, and cashflow forecasts.
• Assist in preparing interim payment applications and support final account settlements with clients and subcontractors.

Candidate Profile

• Currently studying or qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (HNC/HND or Degree level).
• Experience working with main contractors or practical exposure on live construction sites.
• Solid understanding of construction processes, commercial principles, and typical contracts.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities complemented by excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
