Role overview
This role is responsible for leading the branch so it consistently delivers strong customer service, healthy business growth, and an engaged team. The position is expected to balance customer experience, profitability, staffing, compliance, and community involvement while helping the branch move up to the next performance tier.

Primary responsibilities
- Make sure every branch employee understands company-wide goals and their own branch-level targets, and that the team works together toward them.
- Consistently achieve and surpass branch goals to support advancement to the next branch tier.
- Conduct frequent outside calls on business prospects to bring in new customers.
- Understand the full range of the bank’s products and services well enough to train staff and encourage cross-selling.
- Stay aware of competitor products, promotions, and operations and use that knowledge to strengthen the branch’s market position.
- Work with marketing on sales campaigns, product promotion, and development, while maintaining a polished lobby presentation across branches.
- Open all standard types of bank accounts and explain related services and fees as needed.
- Interview loan applicants and approve credit for commercial, mortgage, and consumer loans within lending authority, escalating larger requests to senior officers.
- Follow the bank’s loan policies and procedures at all times.
- Keep branch supervisors informed so daily, weekly, and monthly operational and productivity reports are completed on schedule.
- Maintain timely communication and documentation for personal goals, performance reviews, and HR-related paperwork.
- Interview, hire, develop, and retain branch staff as needed.
- Lead weekly sales meetings focused on branch growth, product knowledge, sales targets, and overall profitability.
- Manage salary and staffing costs to keep the branch efficient.
- Enforce branch security requirements in line with policy.
- Maintain branch customer records according to security and retention rules.
- Handle customer questions and complaints quickly and effectively.
- Be willing to attend community, networking, and banking events connected to business development, including outside normal business hours.
- Adjust work schedules as needed to meet staffing and customer service demands.
- Complete all required and elective training, including BSA and anti-money laundering procedures, and remain compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
- Keep regular, dependable attendance.
- Take on additional duties as assigned.
Education and experience
A high school diploma or GED is required; a college degree is preferred. NMLS certification is required, or it must be obtained after hire. Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience as a branch manager or in a similar management role, with prior banking management experience preferred.
Additional skills and abilities
- Comfort using a calculator, telephone, office equipment, computers, and relevant software.
- Ability to contact outside vendors for branch maintenance matters.
- Capability to return calls and follow up with customers regarding troubleshooting, interest-rate quotes, complaints, and suggestions.
