Combining extensive high-quality data, innovative technology, and industry insight, OAG empowers airlines, airports, technology firms, and financial institutions with actionable intelligence, enhanced further by AI integration to deliver unprecedented analytical capabilities.

Role Overview

The Commercial Analyst role is part of the Strategic Analysis and Commercial Data Integrity team and reports directly to the Senior Manager of Strategic Analysis. This individual contributor position demands a hands-on approach to data modeling, number crunching, querying, and narrating the insights derived. Positioned between Commercial and FP&A teams, this role supports vital commercial decisions including commission management, territory and white space planning, and conversion analysis. The function is evolving into an AI-first operation, with the analyst playing an integral role in automating and enhancing analytical processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical tasks supporting commission execution including calculation, validation, and reconciliation for accuracy over successive cycles.
  • Assist with territory planning and white space identification by quantifying regional opportunities and pinpointing underserved accounts and segments.
  • Conduct funnel conversion analyses, examining lead-to-opportunity, opportunity-to-close transitions, sales cycle durations, and underlying drivers.
  • Generate account, segment, and regional analyses to inform pricing, packaging, and commercial strategy.
  • Ensure consistency between Commercial and FP&A metrics by aligning definitions, data sources, and calculations for critical measures like pipeline, bookings, ACV, conversion and win rates.
  • Support FP&A efforts in commission modeling, capacity planning, and commercial scenario evaluations.
  • Innovate recurring analytical workflows by identifying automation potential, AI enablement, and complete redesigns where beneficial.
  • Develop dashboards, tools, and workflows to enhance speed and reliability of analyses involving Salesforce, revenue, and Snowflake data.
  • Contribute to analytical models used in executive and board-level discussions and help set standards and best practices for the growing function.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong foundation in analytics with experience in commercial, revenue, or sales operations analysis, preferably within B2B SaaS, data, or intelligence platform sectors.
  • Proficient and curious about AI tools for analysts, including use of large language models for query building, narrative creation, and data exploration, eager to expand AI capabilities in analysis.
  • Hands-on expertise with modern data environments: essential fluency in SQL and Salesforce data, and competence with BI platforms like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker for dashboard development.
  • Good commercial understanding, familiarity with sales processes, conversion metrics, average order values, and commission structures.
  • Experience partnering with FP&A teams and understanding the link between commercial operations and financial metrics.
  • Exceptional communication skills to distill complex data insights into clear, actionable stories for senior stakeholders.
  • High commitment to data integrity: instinct to question anomalies and dedication to addressing root causes.
  • A builder mentality that enjoys constructing analytical models, automations, dashboards, and workflows, with attention to detail.

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Background related to aviation, travel, or transportation intelligence sectors.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms; knowledge of Python or R for advanced analytics and automation besides SQL and BI tools.
  • Experience with commission and incentive design within multi-region sales organizations.
  • Exposure to high-growth or private equity-backed companies, or experience bridging commercial analytics with finance, marketing, or product analytics domains.

Benefits and Culture

  • Opportunity to actively explore and implement AI and automation tools with customer-centric focus and a culture that encourages curiosity and innovation.
  • Ownership of complex challenges with autonomy in decision-making within a trust-based open environment.
  • Flexible work options combining remote and office environments.
  • Competitive salary with private health insurance, company bonus, and enhanced pension scheme.
  • 25 vacation days plus public holidays and an additional day off during birthday month.
  • Participation in Octopus EV salary sacrifice program.
  • Remote work allowed globally up to one month annually.
  • Annual budget allocated for learning and professional development.
