Construction Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

The Construction Mechanical Engineer will oversee and ensure the smooth functioning, preventive maintenance, timely repairs, and performance tracking of all construction vehicles and heavy machinery. This position involves detailed monitoring of fuel usage, maintenance scheduling, spare parts inventory management, equipment documentation, and report generation to maximize the uptime and reliability of plant machinery.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair activities on construction vehicles and heavy equipment to ensure optimal operation.
• Manage and coordinate all construction equipment operations.
• Monitor fuel consumption and analyze usage data for efficiency improvements.
• Plan and schedule preventive maintenance tasks to avoid equipment breakdowns.
• Oversee spare parts stock, ensuring availability and proper inventory management.
• Maintain thorough documentation and system records for equipment status and maintenance.
• Generate and submit reports including daily equipment status, weekly maintenance progress, and monthly fuel consumption.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate and coordinate with team members to optimize operational effectiveness.

Required Skills and Expertise

• In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance processes.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting diesel engines.
• Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic system operations.
• Competency in electrical system diagnostics for machinery.
• Experience in preventive maintenance program planning.
• Skills in managing fuel usage and related data.
• Ability to analyze equipment utilization metrics for performance improvements.
• Familiarity with spare parts inventory control.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office tools.
• Experience using ERP or CMMS software such as SAP, Oracle, Maximo, or equivalents.
• Competent in detailed report preparation and documentation.
• Strong leadership and effective communication skills.
