Role overview
This contract Cost Estimator role is designed for an experienced technical professional who can contribute to estimating work for portfolio projects in a complex project setting. The focus is on projects valued at under $500 million, especially at gate and funding milestones, with an emphasis on efficient estimating practices, quality control, and teamwork across project and functional groups.
What you will do
- Prepare cost estimates for gate and funding milestone reviews.
- Work closely with project and functional stakeholders, including planners, schedulers, and accounting personnel.
- Support C&SE outputs such as Cost and Schedule Estimate documents, estimate basis write-ups, and benchmarking studies.
- Spot opportunities to improve capital efficiency and highlight project risks.
- Help improve estimating team workflows, efficiency tools, and quality assurance review practices.
Experience and qualifications
- Advanced expertise in cost estimating.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 15 years of experience on projects.
- Background in oil and gas cost estimating.
- Experience estimating for upstream, downstream, manufacturing, refining, or midstream environments.
- Strong ability to coach and mentor technical teams.
- Working knowledge of estimating tools and industry software such as ASPEN.
- Capability to negotiate and build practical solutions across internal stakeholders.
- Strong influencing, consulting, mentoring, analytical, and computer skills.
- Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, control, and manage cross-functional work effectively.
