About the Role

Severn Trent is looking for a Customer Inspector to help protect the quality and continuity of drinking water for the customers in the assigned area. In this role, you will take end-to-end responsibility for customer issues in your patch, managing each case from inspection through to complete closure from the customer’s perspective.

You will also work closely with the customer hub to keep customers updated throughout the resolution process and to escalate more complex or challenging issues so they can be handled correctly.

What You’ll Do

  • Carry out inspections related to customer-side leakage, stop taps, wasted water, and supply isolations, resolving issues immediately wherever possible.
  • Own customer concerns personally and help improve the overall customer experience by ensuring commitments are honoured and complaints are followed through to resolution, including customer visits when needed.
  • Identify vulnerable customers and people who may need extra support, then manage their cases proactively so their needs are met appropriately.
  • Coordinate with property owners and installers on any remedial work needed after an inspection, making sure actions are completed promptly, and support network events when required.
  • Follow and improve safe working practices, methods, standards, and procedures, while sharing suggestions for improvement with the team manager, Senior Distribution Service Technician, or the relevant team.
  • Complete work in line with company policies and standards, including private burst policy, GDPR requirements, and traffic management standards, while serving as a customer contact throughout the entire journey.
  • Work on a 6-week rota that includes 2 weekends.
