Overview
Tesla seeks a driven Data Engineer to join the Energy Device Core Software Team, focusing on collecting and analyzing firmware metrics across Industrial, Residential, and Charging products within Tesla Energy. The engineer will develop infrastructure and tools to enhance firmware metrics data processing and visualization, collaborating closely with development, service, and core data teams. This role involves maintaining systems critical to Tesla's mission of promoting sustainable energy adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy end-to-end data pipelines from collection through to data visualization to support firmware product deployments across Tesla’s energy fleet.
- Define and implement success metrics that measure firmware rollout effectiveness.
- Develop automation tools, internal libraries, and developer utilities to speed up data analysis and visualization for energy software products.
- Create engaging visualizations using tools such as Streamlit.
- Work closely with engineering and service partners to refine and enhance data sets for maximum impact.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or comparable experience.
- Strong skills in Python and SQL for data manipulation, automation, and optimizing queries within production environments.
- Proficient with data visualization platforms, including but not limited to Tableau and Streamlit.
- Comprehensive understanding of the data lifecycle, including sourcing, ingestion, transformation, analysis, and presentation.
- Experience with data workflow frameworks such as Spark and Airflow.
- Academic background in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical or Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience showcasing outstanding software engineering capabilities.

- Annual salary ranging from $120,000 to $252,000, with variation based on location, experience, and skill set.
