Electrical Design and Control Engineer

About the Role

Our MV & LV Switchgear division specializes in designing and manufacturing electrical distribution solutions critical for business operations across Europe. Due to expansion, we are looking for driven Electrical Design and Control Engineers to join our dynamic team. This role involves leveraging advanced electrical design software and established standards to develop compliant and functional design solutions. Candidates who enjoy tackling technical challenges and applying electrical concepts within a busy design office, closely collaborating with manufacturing teams to validate theoretical designs, will find this position rewarding.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Electrical Design team to produce comprehensive design drawings and supporting documentation for Switchgear manufacturing.
• Thoroughly analyze tender documents including specifications, single line diagrams, and quotations to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Review design outputs from junior engineers and provide coaching and mentoring to support their development.
• Contribute to establishing and implementing improved design team practices and processes to enhance departmental performance.
• Apply knowledge of IEC/IET/IEE standards to guarantee compliance with relevant electrical regulations in all designs.
• Coordinate with project management to meet or exceed timelines and objectives across concurrent projects.
• Develop software for standard control devices and create test scripts to verify control scheme functionality.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possession of a tertiary qualification in Engineering or a minimum of five years relevant experience in a related engineering design role.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects and understanding of electrical design engineering practices.
• Strong familiarity with wiring standards, notably BS7671 - 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to apply electrical control design principles effectively.
• Adaptability to operate in a fast-paced business environment with precision and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Demonstrates a proactive and flexible approach when collaborating within a team environment.
