Engineering Tools Administrator/Lead

Role overview

This position is focused on overseeing and improving the company’s global portfolio of simulation and engineering software. The aim is to keep tools running efficiently, reduce spend where possible, standardize administration, and make support smoother for engineering teams across regions.

Core responsibilities

• Take ownership of the administration and upkeep of global engineering and simulation platforms such as Ansys, JMage, and Kissoft.
• Handle software updates, fresh releases, and installation activity in a timely manner.
• Observe tool health, diagnose issues, and coordinate fixes when problems arise.
• Review license usage and help move local licensing arrangements into centralized global agreements whenever practical.
• Track licensing compliance and usage trends, and look for opportunities to lower costs through consolidation.
• Create macros, scripts, and other automations that improve everyday workflow efficiency.
• Work with engineering users to customize tools and reduce manual effort.
• Partner with the IT team to assess cloud-based simulation options.
• Support the rollout of approved cloud solutions that are secure and cost-effective.
• Keep thorough documentation covering tools, procedures, and recommended practices.
• Train and assist engineering teams around the world on tool usage and support processes.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• At least 7 years of hands-on experience working with simulation tools such as Ansys or other CAD/CAE platforms.
• Strong knowledge of software licensing models and cost optimization approaches.
• Practical experience with scripting or macros, including tools such as Python and VBA.
• Exposure to cloud computing concepts and IT infrastructure.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and regions.
