Role Overview
The General Manager position calls for a dynamic, hands-on leader with an entrepreneurial mindset, passionate about developing highly specialized technical businesses. They will spearhead customer relationship building, strategic sales initiatives, employee mentorship, and operational excellence. Working in close collaboration with a skilled team, the leader is tasked with expanding the business footprint while fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the formulation and execution of growth-driven strategies to maximize profitability.
- Drive business development activities and manage strategic client partnerships.
- Support sales efforts including proposals, negotiations, and customer presentations.
- Expand market presence across current and new industry sectors.
- Oversee all financial aspects including P&L responsibility, budgeting, and growth planning.
- Manage operations encompassing manufacturing, engineering support, field services, equipment rentals, and customer care.
- Develop and mentor team members to strengthen capabilities and performance.
- Encourage cross-functional collaboration to enhance quality, safety, and continuous improvements.
- Identify opportunities for new product, service, and market development.
Ideal Background
The successful candidate will have direct industry experience in at least one area such as orbital welding systems, welding automation, specialized welding services, nuclear, oil & gas, shipbuilding, pharmaceutical or semiconductor manufacturing, industrial automation, or capital equipment sales. A strong record of leading technical businesses, generating profitable growth, and fostering customer engagement is crucial.
Qualification Requirements
- Proven leadership of small to mid-sized industrial or technical enterprises.
- Extensive experience in business development, sales leadership, and capital equipment or technical product services.
- Track record managing full P&L and driving strong financial outcomes.
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and strategic decision-making skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field is preferred.
