Role Overview
This remote contract role focuses on geospatial analysis work that supports the development of next-generation AI systems. You will use your domain expertise to provide accurate, practical input that helps improve how models learn, reason, and perform. Prior experience in AI is not necessary; strong geospatial knowledge is the key requirement.
Core Responsibilities
- Build, organize, and upkeep spatial databases while safeguarding data quality, consistency, and accuracy across assignments.
- Carry out advanced geoprocessing and spatial modeling in QGIS, then translate findings into clear, usable insights.
- Create, adapt, and support QGIS plugins and extensions based on project needs.
- Streamline geospatial workflows with Python and PyQGIS to make analysis faster and easier to reproduce.
- Produce polished maps and visualizations for reports, presentations, and decision-making support.
- Work closely with cross-functional teammates to interpret requirements and turn them into practical geospatial solutions.
- Explain technical geospatial concepts clearly in both written and spoken communication for internal and external stakeholders.
Required Background
- Strong working knowledge of QGIS, including spatial database handling, geoprocessing, and map creation.
- Solid Python skills with direct experience automating QGIS tasks using PyQGIS.
- Clear understanding of projections, coordinate reference systems, and data transformation methods.
- Ability to customize QGIS through scripting or plugin development.
- Excellent communication skills for audiences with both technical and non-technical backgrounds.
- Ability to create professional cartographic outputs for different decision-making contexts.
- Well-developed organizational skills and careful attention to detail when balancing multiple priorities.
Preferred Experience
Experience in distributed or remote teams supporting external clients is an advantage. Exposure to other open-source GIS tools or cloud-based geospatial platforms is also helpful. A background in spatial analysis for environmental science, urban planning, or resource management is preferred.

This position is offered as a contract role and is fully remote. The hiring focus is on candidates who can contribute strong geospatial expertise to AI-related work, rather than prior AI industry experience.
