About Carboncopies Foundation
The Carboncopies Foundation is a global nonprofit devoted to advancing whole brain emulation—the technology that enables transferring brain structure and function to computational prostheses. Founded by leaders in neuroscience and technology, the foundation functions as a hub for research collaboration, education, and discussion aimed at extending human cognition. Their multidisciplinary efforts intersect neuroscience, computer science, nanotechnology, and philosophy. Over 15 years, they have cultivated a community of researchers and volunteers, striving to overcome scientific and engineering hurdles via workshops, webinars, and publications.
Role Objectives and Responsibilities
The foundation is looking for a React developer to contribute to a web-based science and technology roadmap visualization tool. This tool presents a timeline of milestones required for research goals. Milestones include details such as success criteria, responsible researchers or labs, estimated costs, and risks. Anonymous users can view the roadmap, while authenticated users can manage milestones in the system. As part of the development team, the successful candidate will help enhance the frontend by designing and implementing new features, debugging React issues, and improving functionality. Participation in weekly meetings and team communications is expected.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years experience with JavaScript and React, or at least 1 year of full-time React development experience.
- Ability to collaborate within a remote team environment through meetings and communication channels.
Time Commitment and Duration
- Approximately 15-20 hours per week with flexible scheduling options.
- Mandatory attendance in a 1-hour weekly team meeting and a 1-hour weekly organization-wide meeting.
- Minimum commitment of 6 months, with longer engagement preferred.
