Position Overview
La Prensa Monetaria seeks a proactive and meticulous Junior Data Engineer to join the data team based in Munich, Germany. This full-time role involves contributing to the construction, upkeep, and enhancement of data pipelines and databases that underpin the company's business intelligence and analytic functions. Collaboration with data analysts, software engineers, and senior engineers is essential to ensure data solutions are reliable, secure, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows.
- Gather, cleanse, transform, and consolidate data from diverse sources.
- Continuously monitor data processes to maintain accuracy, dependability, and efficiency.
- Aid in upkeep and performance tuning of databases and data warehouses.
- Work jointly with analysts and business stakeholders to understand data needs.
- Identify and resolve issues impacting data quality and pipeline integrity.
- Contribute to implementing best practices in data security and governance.
- Create and update documentation related to data systems and procedures.
- Support initiatives for automating data processes to boost efficiency.
- Keep abreast of the latest advancements and standards in data engineering.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, IT, Software Engineering or relevant field; equivalent practical experience accepted.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational database systems.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT methodologies and data integration techniques.
- Basic exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is advantageous.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools is a plus.
- Experience using version control systems like Git is beneficial.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team.
- Proficiency in English; German language skills considered a bonus but not required.
