Lead Data Governance

Overview

Orion Mining Inc is looking for a seasoned Lead Data Governance professional to spearhead enterprise-wide data governance initiatives within a prominent energy sector organization. The role focuses on establishing and executing data governance strategies, frameworks, and standards that ensure reliable, high-quality, and easily accessible data throughout the company. This position is pivotal in advancing digital transformation, AI governance, analytics, and overall enterprise data management.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the formulation and rollout of a comprehensive data governance strategy and roadmap across the enterprise.
• Create, update, and enforce governance frameworks, policies, standards, and industry best practices.
• Champion projects involving data quality, metadata stewardship, business glossaries, and data lineage tracking.
• Support initiatives around artificial intelligence governance and ensure responsible AI application.
• Lead efforts to enhance data literacy and implement organizational capacity-building programs.
• Manage governance activities related to digital platforms, analytics, and data-driven projects.
• Collaborate closely with business units, data owners, and IT to elevate data quality and governance maturity.
• Oversee the deployment of governance-related technologies and enforce enterprise-wide metadata standards.
• Coordinate governance reporting, steer committee meetings, and engage executive stakeholders.
• Maintain adherence to organizational data policies and governance standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Engineering, Business, or a related area.
• At least 10 years experience in data management within the Oil & Gas sector.
• A minimum of 5 years in leadership or managerial capacities.
• Demonstrated expertise in designing and applying enterprise data governance frameworks.
• Advanced knowledge across data governance, quality, lineage, business glossaries, metadata management, and master data management.
• Familiarity with data warehouses, data lakes, business intelligence platforms, and data modeling concepts.
• Experience managing change and stakeholder engagement effectively.
• Comprehensive understanding of database systems, enterprise document management systems, information security, and enterprise architecture principles.
• Excellent leadership and communication capabilities.
• Proficiency in English.

Additional Information

This role is offered on a contract basis and can be performed remotely, located in Doha metropolitan area. The position will engage with multiple stakeholders to continuously improve the organization’s data governance maturity and compliance.
