About the Role

Join SIMCON in revolutionizing plastic injection molding simulation with Cadmould AI Solver, the first Large Engineering Model using transformer-based neural physics providing simulation results up to 1,000 times faster than traditional methods. You will contribute to building and improving this cutting-edge AI model, enabling real-time exploration for engineers. This position can be based at our Würselen office near Aachen or remotely within Germany, with occasional travel for team events and onsite meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with research engineers and domain specialists to enhance the AI Solver's model architecture, training processes, datasets, and evaluation metrics.
  • Design and conduct experiments to analyze model behavior, document findings methodically, and apply improvements to enhance accuracy and generalization.
  • Communicate results effectively, ensuring reproducibility and shared technical understanding within the team.
  • Develop and improve training, evaluation, and deployment workflows and infrastructure supporting the AI platform.
  • Participate in broader team activities beyond model development, including AI service implementations and experimental product features.

Required Qualifications

  • Academic background in Machine Learning, Physics, Computational Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or closely related areas, with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent personal/research projects.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of machine learning, with hands-on experience in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent frameworks and proficiency in data processing libraries like NumPy.
  • Ability to implement research insights into practical models and a deep understanding of model behaviors.
  • Systematic and organized approach to work, including thorough experiment documentation and the ability to communicate insights clearly.
  • Experience leveraging coding agents effectively as part of your development workflow.
  • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of German is advantageous.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with transformers or sequence modeling architectures.
  • Familiarity with geometric deep learning, graph neural networks, or machine learning on structured 3D data such as point clouds or meshes.
  • Background in scientific machine learning, surrogate modeling, or physics-based data applications.
  • Experience with cloud platforms for machine learning workloads including training and deployment.
  • Proficiency with experiment tracking/versioning tools (MLflow, Weights & Biases, DVC) and solid software engineering practices like testing, version control, and containerization.

Why Work With Us?

  • Engage with a challenging technical problem at the intersection of AI and industrial simulation, redefining an established simulation engine for cloud and AI-driven markets.
  • Take significant ownership and impact within a compact team of about 40 people, where your decisions shape both product and business strategy.
  • Utilize modern tools such as Notion, GitHub, Linear, and coding agents, contributing to the development of efficient engineering practices.
  • Experience a culture of honesty and direct communication with no micromanagement, encouraging constructive feedback.
