About the Role
Join Aveo and contribute to enhancing the quality of life and fostering a strong sense of community for senior Australians. At Albany Creek Retirement Living, a well-established community nestled in Brisbane’s North, you will play a key role maintaining safe, functional, and attractive living environments across 11 hectares of landscaped grounds featuring amenities like swimming pools and tennis courts.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete various general repairs and handyman tasks such as painting, installing pictures, and replacing light fixtures.
- Carry out minor plumbing work including replacing taps and washers.
- Maintain external assets including lighting and irrigation sprinkler systems.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure optimal condition of community facilities.
- Manage and maintain community tools and equipment to ensure safety, orderliness, and readiness for use.
- Document all maintenance activities, notes, and job updates accurately.
- Engage warmly with residents and maintain a friendly presence while collaborating with the team.
- Note: Gardening responsibilities are excluded as they are managed separately.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in trade-related or general maintenance roles involving hands-on handyman duties.
- A proactive and solution-oriented mindset capable of evaluating issues, troubleshooting, and implementing timely solutions.
- Familiarity with maintenance schedules and the expected lifespans of equipment and village assets.
- Strong, clear communication skills allowing explanations of maintenance tasks in a resident-friendly manner.
- Positive attitude, approachable demeanor, and pride in workmanship.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license (mandatory).
- Up-to-date with at least two COVID-19 vaccinations as required.
Employment Details
- This is a fixed-term full-time position running until February 2027, with potential for extension.
- Working hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
- Hourly remuneration of $31.86 plus superannuation and applicable award benefits including penalty rates, overtime, and allowances.
