Job Overview
The Manager HSES role demands a thorough grasp of Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) concepts, principles, and related disciplines. This position requires the application of industry knowledge to enhance operational effectiveness, provide expert guidance, and influence the development of processes and policies related to HSES. The role involves identifying and resolving technical, operational, and organizational challenges that affect overall performance. Leadership decisions around policies, resource allocation, budgets, and business planning are critical responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of all current HSES policies and procedures to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
- Interpret applicable regulatory requirements and oversee adherence.
- Assure adequate staffing levels for all HSES activities.
- Identify training needs for HSES personnel and ensure appropriate training delivery.
- Develop and implement required local and project-specific HSES procedures.
- Oversee and ensure optimal performance of all HSES department members.
- Monitor and evaluate subcontractors’ HSES performance rigorously.
- Lead hazard identification (HAZID) sessions and other risk assessment activities.
- Design, implement, and execute HSES audit schedules and follow-ups.
- Create and maintain detailed HSES activity plans and reporting mechanisms.
- Set HSES objectives and annual targets, overseeing continuous improvement strategies.
- Lead or support incident investigations with thorough analysis and reporting.
- Contribute HSES expertise to project look-ahead planning and management change processes.
- Review and approve subcontractors and vendors providing equipment or services with a focus on HSES compliance.
- Participate actively in meetings such as kick-offs, constructability and readiness reviews, providing HSES insights.
- Drive the enforcement and compliance verification of company-wide HSES policies and standards.
- Ensure all employees recognize and fulfill their HSES roles and responsibilities effectively.
- Guarantee the prompt completion of mandatory HSES training by self and team members.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in HSES or related discipline.
- A minimum of 8 to 9 years' experience in Health, Safety, and Environment within the Energy sector.
- NEBOSH Diploma holder or equivalent health and safety certification.
- Certified and experienced ISO lead auditor in standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001.
- Possession of essential HSES competencies and the ability to both lead teams and collaborate effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation capabilities.
- Familiarity with local and international HSES legislations and regulatory frameworks.
