Packaging Specialist

About the Role

At MECCA Brands, packaging plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer experiences. As a Packaging Specialist, you will bring one of our product categories to life through creative, high-quality, and sustainable packaging solutions. You will ensure these solutions not only meet premium aesthetic standards but also comply with technical and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with the Senior Product Manager and various cross-functional teams, you will oversee the packaging process from initial concept development through to production. This role involves collaborating with global suppliers to produce visually appealing and functional packaging that aligns with our brand values and sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of packaging development projects end-to-end, guaranteeing timely delivery and compliance with quality standards.
• Create innovative, customer-centric packaging designs that balance aesthetics, usability, eco-friendliness, and commercial viability.
• Collaborate with departments such as Product Development, Design, Compliance, Brand, and Supply Chain, as well as external suppliers, to ensure successful market launch of new products.
• Manage packaging testing procedures, develop technical specifications, oversee artwork approvals, and ensure all packaging complies with regulatory standards, including Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) requirements where applicable.
• Lead sustainable packaging initiatives by sourcing new materials, tracking emerging regulations, and fostering continuous improvement in packaging practices.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience in packaging development within the beauty industry, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), or a related sector.
• Comprehensive understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing methods, and supplier relationship management.
• Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously with exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Familiarity with packaging testing protocols, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance, including global standards and TGA requirements.
• Strong commitment to sustainable packaging innovations, circular design principles, and material advancements, complemented by excellent stakeholder management and communication capabilities.
