Planning Engineer

About the Role

An established Architecture and Engineering consultancy in Dubai is looking for a seasoned Planning Engineer. The chosen candidate will be instrumental in managing project planning, scheduling, and controls to ensure projects meet deadlines and quality standards by working closely with various project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all aspects of project planning and scheduling activities.
• Create and update detailed project schedules, ensuring proper sequencing and coordination between disciplines.
• Develop systems to measure and track project progress accurately.
• Ensure schedule adherence across connected projects through consistent monitoring.
• Perform ongoing schedule risk analyses and suggest effective mitigation measures.
• Collaborate openly with project management, consultants, and contractors to achieve milestone targets promptly.
• Evaluate and scrutinize contractor submissions related to scheduling, progress tracking, productivity, and time impact assessments.
• Confirm and approve physical progress reported by contractors.
• Track project advancement to detect delays or schedule risks and advise on corrective paths.
• Assess critical and near-critical tasks to understand their influence on overall completion timelines.
• Review contractor resource deployment and recommend optimizations as needed.
• Analyze change orders and requests for extensions of time, advising project leadership accordingly.
• Compile and deliver weekly and monthly progress summaries, dashboards, and stakeholder presentations.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• At least 10 years of professional experience in project planning and scheduling.
• Prior work experience with a reputable engineering consultancy within the Gulf region is strongly preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of project control systems, scheduling techniques, and progress reporting principles.
• Outstanding analytical capabilities paired with excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
