About the Role
Tata Electronics is launching cutting-edge semiconductor fabrication facilities—a Front-End Semiconductor Fab in Gujarat and Back-End Semiconductor Assembly and Testing in Assam. The Procurement Specialist plays a vital role in managing procurement operations supporting these greenfield semiconductor manufacturing sites, ensuring timely sourcing and inventory control of essential raw materials, components, and supplies.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and oversee purchase orders aligned with agreed commercial and business policies, ensuring strict adherence to laws and company guidelines.
- Manage inventory purchase requisitions through planning systems and non-inventory requisitions via procurement platforms.
- Adjust inventory replenishment per demand signals and customer purchase requests efficiently.
- Engage suppliers to verify pricing, delivery timelines, and purchase terms, working alongside the sourcing teams as needed.
- Escalate any supplier-related disputes or issues to the designated supplier account manager promptly.
- Coordinate stakeholder interactions, including timely PO approvals, collaboration with warehousing for goods receipt, and processing overdue receipt confirmations.
- Work closely with vendors to manage scheduling changes and avert any risks impacting material availability.
- Partner with accounts payable and receiving teams to resolve invoice and receiving discrepancies within the PO-to-Pay lifecycle, escalating concerns appropriately.
- Identify systemic purchasing process challenges and escalate as required.
- Participate in high-value project review meetings ensuring alignment with key stakeholders.
- Communicate status updates concerning outstanding orders, new part requests, and vendor onboarding.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) within procurement processes.
- Continuously enhance knowledge surrounding procurement functions and drive process and system improvements to boost efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure procurement records are accurate and updated, complying fully with internal and external audits.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred, alternatively qualifications such as a postgraduate diploma or degree in business, administration, management, or a related field are acceptable.
- Certification in Supply Chain Management is favored.
- Proficiency using supply chain management platforms such as SAP ERP system.
- Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to solve problems using data-driven insights.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, notably Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience
At least three years experience in procurement focused on indirect purchasing and operational excellence initiatives.
Preferred Skills & Knowledge
- Familiarity with semiconductor industry spare parts and material assemblies.
- Lean or Six Sigma certifications are advantageous.
- Understanding of semiconductor fabrication operations.
- Excellent project management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication, influencing, and collaboration skills for working effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
