Project Engineer

Position Overview

This role supports the end-to-end delivery of construction and fit-out projects, covering planning, coordination, execution, and final handover. The Project Engineer helps ensure that work is completed safely, on schedule, within the approved budget, and to the required quality, statutory, and client standards. The position involves close collaboration with consultants, contractors, internal teams, and project stakeholders across the full project lifecycle.

Project Planning and Coordination

• Support the Senior Project Manager or Project Manager in organizing, coordinating, and driving construction project activities.
• Keep track of schedules and make sure work progresses according to approved timelines.
• Liaise with consultants, architects, contractors, and internal teams to keep execution running smoothly.
• Follow project status closely and prepare regular progress updates.
• Spot project risks early and suggest practical actions to reduce them.

Construction Management

• Carry out routine site visits to check progress, workmanship, and alignment with approved drawings and specifications.
• Examine shop drawings, technical submittals, and material approvals.
• Work with consultants and contractors to close technical issues.
• Ensure work complies with local authority rules, health and safety standards, and quality expectations.

Contract and Cost Management

• Assist in tender assessments and contractor appointment decisions.
• Monitor contractor delivery against the agreed contract terms.
• Review progress claims, variations, and change requests.
• Support cost control and help maintain the project within approved budget limits.

Quality Assurance

• Confirm that construction output meets company standards and project requirements.
• Participate in inspections and coordinate snagging closeout.
• Track corrective actions through to completion.
• Ensure testing and commissioning activities are successfully finished.

Stakeholder Management

• Coordinate with internal teams such as Procurement, Commercial, Finance, Legal, Facilities Management, and Operations.
• Keep clear communication channels open with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and other external parties.
• Share project status and updates with management whenever needed.

Project Handover

• Oversee testing, commissioning, and final inspection activities.
• Make sure all project records and documentation are complete before handover.
• Support the transfer of completed projects to Operations, Facilities Management, or clients.
• Ensure remaining defects are corrected within the agreed timeframe.

Qualifications, Experience, and Technical Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or another related engineering discipline is required. A project management credential such as PMP or an equivalent certification is considered an advantage, while LEED accreditation or a sustainability-related certification is desirable.

The ideal candidate should bring 5 to 7 years of experience in construction project management, fit-out work, or building projects. Experience dealing with consultants, contractors, and multiple stakeholders is important, and prior UAE project exposure is preferred.

Technical capability should include working knowledge of AutoCAD, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Power BI, and MS Office. Strong familiarity with UAE authority regulations and construction standards is needed, along with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
