About the Role
As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for setting out the site and managing dimensional controls according to contract drawings, specifications, and site surveys. Your role includes ensuring all tolerances are met without sacrificing quality or usable floor space. You will review construction deliverables and plan efficient work sequences that focus on quality, control, and technical guidance. All tasks must align with company procedures and safety policies.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform site set out following drawings, specifications, and survey details
- Coordinate with planners to align project schedules and supply chain outputs
- Inspect materials and ongoing work to ensure compliance with quality and specifications
- Contribute to Inspection and Test Plans and ensure necessary test data is submitted by suppliers
- Manage Requests for Information (RFIs) with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and statutory bodies
- Maintain quality control documentation based on method statements and inspection procedures
- Review subcontractor drawings for accuracy relative to contracts and specifications
- Verify that purchase orders clearly state technical requirements
- Conduct audits of design, process, and delivery compliance and performance across projects
- Integrate digital tools into construction, design, and planning processes to improve efficiency
- Supervise and mentor junior and trainee engineers
- Support project valuation in collaboration with quantity surveyors
- Maintain detailed site diaries and generate reports
- Complete pre-start condition surveys and manage records of delivered materials such as concrete and reinforcement
- Assist with installation of site facilities including hoardings and accommodation
- Oversee snagging and de-snagging tasks prior to project handover
- Promote safe working practices by reviewing subcontractor safety plans and preparing method statements
- Continuously develop own skills and mentor others through knowledge sharing
Required Skills and Experience
- At least three years of post-qualification experience in a project-based construction or engineering environment
- Solid understanding of engineering principles and expertise in technical coordination
- Proficient in setting out using total stations, EDMs, lasers, and dumpy levels
- Capable of inspecting drainage, reinforcement, and other package installations
- Strong communication and numerical skills for preparing objective, persuasive reports
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, resilience, and effective problem-solving
- Experience in multiple trades including piling, geotechnical, substructure, superstructure, and facade works
Desirable Attributes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills capable of influencing senior management
- Ability to analyze, evaluate, and adapt approaches according to project requirements
- Knowledge of Temporary Works Control and capability to act as a Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC)
- Experience with BIM and handling 3D scanning or point cloud data is advantageous
Qualifications and Certifications
- Degree or diploma in Engineering
- SMSTS or MSIC certification
- First Aid training
- Lifting Supervisor certification
- Temporary Works Coordinator training
- Chartered status or progression towards professional membership with Engineers Ireland or Institution of Civil Engineers
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management qualification
- Training in planning software
- Current full driving license
