About the Internship

This internship provides hands-on experience working on projects that support Stripe's goal of expanding the global internet economy. Interns engage with various systems and technologies, gain practical skills in system design and testing, and have chances to showcase their work to teammates and the broader organization. Each intern is guided by a dedicated manager, and projects are integrated into the team's roadmap, directly driving Stripe’s mission forward.

What You Will Do

• Develop production-ready software that significantly impacts Stripe's business and customers.
• Participate actively in technical feedback through code reviews and design discussions.
• Work collaboratively with engineers and cross-functional partners to seek and incorporate constructive feedback.
• Learn rapidly by asking pertinent questions, collaborating effectively with your manager and teammates, and clearly communicating progress and challenges.

Who You Are

Applicants should meet the basic qualifications to be considered, with preferred qualifications providing an added advantage but not required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong foundational knowledge in computer science supported by current pursuit of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
• Programming exposure through coursework or personal projects, preferably familiar with languages such as Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, or Go. A strong grasp of fundamentals allows learning new languages quickly.
• Experience in collaborative projects or internships where you have received and integrated feedback from mentors or peers.
• Capability to quickly learn and comprehend new systems independently or with mentorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least two years of university study or comparable professional experience.
• Expertise in one or more areas like frontend development, accompanied by a general understanding of backend processes such as handling HTTP requests.
• Experience producing well-tested, high-quality code via pull requests, ensuring minimal defects in deliverables.
• Comfort navigating diverse codebases and multiple programming languages.
• Effective written communication skills to clearly articulate your work to various stakeholders.

Onsite Attendance Expectations

Employees assigned to offices, including Bengaluru, are expected to spend a minimum of 50% of their working time within the office or collaborating with end users, varying by role and team. Some teams, such as the Stripe Delivery Center in Bengaluru, require 100% onsite presence. This policy balances the benefits of in-person collaboration and learning with flexibility considerations.
