Technical Officer

About the Role

The Technical Officer leads the Quality Assessors team, ensuring that quality control and food safety procedures are implemented effectively. This role provides assurance to management and external compliance bodies that all programs comply with production standards, food safety, customer requirements, OMAR, and regulatory guidelines. Based out of the Waitōtara location, the position involves working hours from 7am to 4pm, with some flexibility to cover afternoon shifts. The role reports directly to the Technical Manager. Assistance with relocation may be available for qualified candidates.

Candidate Profile

Successful applicants will bring experience as Internal Auditors or Quality Systems Specialists, capable of leading teams to meet production, food safety, regulatory, and quality standards. The role demands strong leadership to motivate teams, identify operational improvements, and uphold high-quality work standards with careful attention to detail.

• Possession of or progress towards a relevant tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or related fields is advantageous.
• Internal auditing certifications or practical experience will be viewed favorably.
• Holding a HSNO qualification is beneficial.
• Prior experience in leadership roles is expected.
• Deep understanding and practical application of HACCP principles is essential.
• Analytical skills to interpret data and communicate findings clearly are critical.
• Hands-on approach and willingness to support the team in achieving daily goals is required.

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills including root cause analysis competency.
