About the Internship
This internship opportunity involves a comprehensive exposure to payroll and compliance processes within a dynamic tax and accounting solutions company. The intern will be engaged hands-on in defining and managing salary structures, payroll workflows, compliance with statutory regulations including EPF, ESIC, Professional Tax, and TDS, along with payroll reporting and reconciliation activities. Interaction with product and engineering teams for system implementation will also be a key aspect of the role.
Primary Responsibilities
- Create frameworks outlining salary components such as Cost to Company (CTC), gross pay, net pay, reimbursements, and statutory deductions.
- Set up payroll calculation rules covering basic pay, allowances, bonuses, incentives, overtime, leave deductions, and arrears.
- Design workflows for monthly salary processing and payroll management.
- Establish procedures for final settlements and payroll closure.
- Develop payslip templates and payroll reporting standards.
- Formulate EPF contribution rules for both employer and employee portions.
- Oversee management of PF wage limits, exemptions, and Electronic Challan cum Return (ECR) data handling.
- Ensure compliance with current EPFO guidelines and regulations.
- Configure rules regarding ESIC eligibility, wage thresholds, and contributions.
- Assist in ESIC reporting and regulatory compliance tasks.
- Set state-specific Professional Tax slabs, deductions, and annual calculations.
- Maintain compliance workflows for diverse state Professional Tax regulations.
- Define income tax and tax deduction at source (TDS) calculations for both old and new tax regimes.
- Manage tax declaration procedures and submission of proof documentation.
- Support annual income tax calculations, projection analyses, and Form 16 preparation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product and engineering for payroll system implementation and enhancements.
- Conduct payroll reconciliations and ensure data accuracy using Excel and other reporting tools.
