Role Summary

The Production Planner will oversee all production operations at Newcastle sites (Telarah and Rutherford) concerning rolling stock upkeep and component refurbishments. Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, this position collaborates closely with on-site leadership to meet daily and weekly production goals and satisfy customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion and continuously enhance workplace safety culture by exemplary leadership.
• Maintain ongoing dialogue with customers to grasp their daily and weekly needs while providing prompt updates.
• Partner with site managers to detect and resolve production challenges potentially affecting delivery commitments.
• Recognize and escalate service capability deficiencies appropriately.
• Generate and administrate work orders supporting operational processes.
• Manage job hour allocations and timesheet processing.
• Produce customer invoices, create purchase orders, and assist in preparing quotations when needed.
• Support HR functions including coordinating training and arranging travel/accommodation for site staff.
• Design and control production schedules optimizing resource usage and reducing delays to meet customer demand.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain to maintain Bills of Materials, track material availability and capacity, and predict parts necessities.
• Track production efficiency against planned schedules, identify bottlenecks, and apply corrective measures.
• Ensure availability of materials for production with minimal waste and inventory costs.
• Analyze production data and build reporting tools to promote ongoing improvements and operational excellence.
• Prepare and deliver detailed reports on output, efficiency, and costs for managerial evaluation.

Candidate Profile

• Possess solid technical and industry-relevant knowledge.
• Proficient with intermediate Microsoft Office tools.
• Strong organizational and time management capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Trade certification is advantageous.
• Experience with SAP systems is beneficial.
• Ability to operate swiftly and efficiently.
