Role overview

An established civil engineering recruitment specialist is looking for an experienced Project Manager for its client, a major civil contractor in Wellington, New Zealand. The business has a strong history of delivering civil, structural, and foundation work on significant infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of civil infrastructure projects from start to finish, making sure safety, quality, budget, and schedule goals are met.
• Coordinate site crews, subcontractors, and important project stakeholders throughout delivery.
• Handle project planning, financial control, risk mitigation, and regular reporting.
• Contribute to construction methodology decisions and help shape practical, construction-ready solutions.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients and other stakeholders.
• Support strong delivery across civil works, structural works, and foundation packages.

Requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 8–10+ years of experience working on civil infrastructure or construction projects.
• Background in Project Management or a senior site leadership position.
• Solid experience across civil, structural, and/or foundation work.
• Well-developed leadership, communication, and stakeholder coordination abilities.
