Role Overview
Under the guidance of the Contract Manager, the Project Manager will oversee projects from initial planning through to completion. The incumbent will ensure that project objectives are met on schedule, within budget, and to excellence in safety, quality, and client satisfaction. This role is based in Cork and will involve managing projects across various sectors, including pharmaceutical, life sciences, food and beverage, and commercial.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the construction project team to achieve high performance across all stages.
- Establish and nurture cooperative relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with the company's health and wellbeing, safety, environmental, and quality protocols.
- Cultivate a proactive health and safety culture onsite among the construction team.
- Develop and maintain the contract schedule in collaboration with the team, ensuring alignment with project milestones and deadlines.
- Implement short- to medium-term project plans to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
- Uphold and enforce quality standards in line with the company’s quality management system and relevant specifications.
- Apply production and commercial processes, partnering with the commercial team for successful financial delivery.
- Oversee procurement and subcontractor/supplier ordering per the project timeline.
- Drive value engineering initiatives and product development throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain clear and constructive communication with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Provide accurate project reporting and forecasting to support transparency and decision-making.
- Ensure all critical information is reviewed and acted upon during regular contract and progress review meetings.
- Participate actively in client and consultant meetings, preparing necessary documentation and responses.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A recognized tertiary degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience post-qualification in construction project management.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects.
- Proficiency in information technology, especially the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong leadership qualities combined with excellent interpersonal and communication capabilities.
- Adept at building and sustaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with up-to-date building regulations and certification standards.
- Self-driven with the capacity to work independently and take initiative.
- Excellent presentation skills, capable of engaging effectively with various organizational levels.
- Ability to foster solid relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
