Role overview
This position sits within Wealth Management and supports private banking underwriting in Bengaluru. The team helps deliver borrowing and cash management solutions that align with clients’ broader wealth goals. The work involves evaluating lending requests for a range of wealth clients, including high and ultra-high net worth individuals, family offices, foundations, endowments, corporations, and their employees.
The Private Bank works on lending solutions across a broad mix of asset-backed and specialty financings, including marketable securities, alternative investments, real estate, private assets, aircraft, fine art, vineyards, private company stock, yachts, and similar structures. The underwriting team is part of Goldman Sachs Bank USA and supports the review, documentation, monitoring, and approval process for private lending transactions.
What you will do
- Assess the financial, credit, and economic impact of transactions using strong analytical judgment and technical capability.
- Partner with the regional lending team to shape client solutions that fit client needs while staying within the bank’s risk appetite.
- Build a solid understanding of the private lending product range and ensure underwriting work follows the approved product lending guides.
- Prepare loan analyses and document structures for credit approval and recordkeeping.
- Check that loan documents match approved terms and that risk ratings are assigned correctly.
- Track covenant compliance and collateral monitoring requirements.
- Make sure approvals, exceptions, and policy deviations are properly documented and that credit files remain complete and organized.
- Support interactions with banking regulators when needed and assist with other portfolio-related work as requested.
- Maintain effective communication with regional lending teams, credit risk, PWM teams, clients, and bank personnel.
Requirements
- CA, CFA, or MBA qualification.
- At least 3 years of experience in commercial real estate asset management or loan underwriting.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting, financial analysis, and modeling.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong project coordination, multitasking, and work management ability.
- A flexible, confident, personable, and self-driven approach, with a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Interest in contributing to a fast-moving and expanding business.
- No license is required for this role.
