About the role
This opportunity is with a global specialist in airport logistics solutions, offering systems and services for baggage and cargo handling, software for logistics digitalization, and maintenance support for major airports and airlines worldwide. The company is hiring a Junior Mechanical Design & Layout Engineer to strengthen its engineering team in Dubai, UAE.
The position is suited to someone who works well in a team, shows initiative, and is open to learning. It may also involve temporary relocation within the Middle East or to other countries for project-related assignments.
Responsibilities
- Create project mechanical layouts using Revit, with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor as additional tools.
- Produce manufacturing drawings and oversee installation drawings, including sections and supporting documents such as clash reports.
- Work with other disciplines like Electrical, Steelworks, PLC/IT, and similar teams to ensure the overall design fits together correctly.
- Build BOMs, BOQs, and RFQs for sourcing mechanical equipment in line with project requirements.
- Technically coordinate with suppliers to complete equipment selection and help with SAP-based material ordering, including material number creation when needed.
- Prepare design packages for client review and approval, such as material submittals, O&M manuals, and functional descriptions, and respond to feedback from clients or consultants.
- Handle building interface requirements, including space, accessibility, safety, and architectural limits, while reviewing MEP, fire/life safety, architecture, and structure drawings to identify clashes.
- Assist site execution by carrying out design surveys, resolving site issues and open points, answering technical questions, and supporting snagging and commissioning activities.
- Generate accurate as-built records and ensure all work follows approved engineering standards and procedures.
- Keep quality, safety, and customer satisfaction at the center of the work.
Requirements
- A BSc in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years of experience, or a Diploma with 5 years of experience.
- At least 2 to 3 years of experience in a mechanical design role, preferably in conveying or logistics technology; exposure to BHS or CHS is beneficial.
- Strong hands-on experience with Revit, which is mandatory.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD in 2D and 3D, and familiarity with Inventor or Navisworks is an advantage.
- Knowledge of SAP, including creating material numbers, is a plus.
- Good written and spoken English communication skills.
- Willingness to travel within the country and internationally, and to work in a multicultural environment.
- Basic awareness of mechanical equipment safety requirements, such as Machine Directive or EU norms.
- Experience in structural calculations would be an added advantage.
