Litigation
- Apply strong advocacy and persuasion skills to prepare and deliver submissions in complex legal proceedings.
- Support others by advising on procedural requirements for managing complex disputes.
- Offer guidance on using alternative dispute resolution strategically and controlling litigation costs.
- Promote high standards in dispute resolution and cost efficiency.
Legal Advice
- Deliver guidance on complex legal matters that demand deep subject knowledge, sound judgement, and the ability to set priorities under broad direction.
- Contribute to the design and improvement of legal risk management systems and practices.
- Coach other lawyers to strengthen advisory skills.
Legal Drafting
- Prepare high-level drafting for matters that are particularly sensitive or legally complex.
- Help manage substantial legal and commercial risk through careful drafting, operating within broad direction from senior leadership.
- Assist others with drafting strategy and preparation of documents.
Statutory Interpretation
- Address difficult interpretation questions involving multiple laws or conflicting provisions.
- Use extrinsic material and advanced legal knowledge to resolve ambiguity in disputed matters.
- Provide clear and authoritative answers to organisational statutory interpretation issues.
Legal Research
- Lead research on complex, specialised, or sensitive issues spanning multiple areas of law.
- Support the use of emerging technologies to improve research efficiency.
- Ensure research outputs are aligned with organisational goals and priorities.
Client Relationships
- Build enduring strategic relationships with clients.
- Embed systems that support strong client satisfaction across the team.
- Oversee client communication across multiple matters or workgroups.
Practice Management
- Demonstrate sound practice management by ensuring files, billing, documents, and precedents are accurate, compliant, and efficient.
- Implement and monitor assurance processes, delegations, and risk controls to maintain service quality and compliance.
- Model ethical conduct and ensure conflicts of interest are identified and managed correctly.
- Support junior lawyers and administrative staff in governance, risk management, and client-focused service delivery.
- Identify recurring inefficiencies in practice processes and recommend improvements to senior leaders.
