Position Summary
The Tool Room Technician supports manufacturing operations by keeping tools and equipment maintained, repaired, organized, and safe to use. The role is focused on ensuring production runs smoothly and quality standards are met through reliable tool availability and timely technical support.
Tool Maintenance and Repair
- Carry out scheduled upkeep on tools, machines, and related equipment so they remain functional and last longer.
- Identify faults and resolve mechanical, machining, welding, and electrical issues in tools and equipment.
- Restore or replace components that are worn out or damaged.
Tool Management
- Keep the tool room orderly, with proper storage, inventory control, and tracking of all tools and equipment.
- Follow inventory processes to make sure tools and parts are available when needed.
- Verify that tools are calibrated correctly and comply with safety requirements.
Production Support
- Work with production teams to troubleshoot tool-related problems and deliver quick solutions that reduce downtime.
- Help set up and adjust tools for different production needs and job requirements.
- Inspect tools regularly to avoid production interruptions and quality defects.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain thorough records of maintenance work, repairs, and replacements.
- Prepare reports covering tool condition, maintenance timelines, and issues encountered.
- Keep accurate records of inventory levels and the use of tools and spare parts.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all safety rules to maintain a secure work environment.
- Adhere to company procedures for using, maintaining, and storing tools.
- Meet applicable regulatory and safety standards for tools and equipment management.
Continuous Improvement
- Look for ways to improve tool maintenance methods and daily practices.
- Suggest upgrades or changes that can improve tool performance and efficiency.
- Stay informed about modern tools, technologies, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- A diploma or an equivalent qualification is required.
- At least 3 years of experience in tool room work or a closely related role, with solid hands-on exposure to maintenance and repair.
