About the Role

The Luxury Collection is seeking a Commis II specializing in Pastry to join their culinary team in Doha, Qatar. This full-time position involves preparing and cooking a variety of food items, with a focus on baked goods, adhering to strict quality and presentation standards. The role requires meticulous attention to food safety, hygiene, and operational efficiency within the kitchen environment. You will be responsible for ingredient preparation, utilizing baking equipment, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring consistent food quality and portion control. The position also emphasizes adherence to company policies, safety protocols, and fostering positive team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items, particularly baked goods, following established recipes and quality standards.
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and proper storage.
• Safely and effectively operate baking and measuring tools, equipment, and appliances.
• Ensure strict compliance with food safety handling policies, procedures, and personal hygiene standards.
• Monitor and maintain correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting any issues to management.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen area, including workstation setup and breakdown.
• Monitor the quality of prepared food and portion sizes throughout the shift.
• Adhere to all company policies, including safety and security procedures, and report any accidents or unsafe conditions.
• Complete required safety training and certifications.
• Maintain a professional appearance and uniform.
• Handle proprietary information with confidentiality and protect company assets.
• Communicate effectively using clear and professional language, and answer telephones with proper etiquette.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and support team goals.
• Comply with all quality expectations and standards.
• Perform physical tasks including moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects up to 25 pounds.
• Navigate various surfaces, including uneven or slippery ones.
• Reach, bend, twist, pull, and stoop as required.
• Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred.
• Less than 1 year of related culinary experience is required.
• No supervisory experience is necessary.
• No specific licenses or certifications are currently required.
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Physical stamina to stand, sit, or walk for extended durations.
• Willingness to perform tasks involving bending, twisting, and reaching.

Eligibility

This role is open to individuals with less than one year of relevant work experience. A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred. Candidates should be able to perform the physical demands of the role and be committed to upholding company standards.
