Where you'll work
Job description
About the role
As a Dispenser in a Boots store, you will play an important part in the pharmacy team, supporting the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues to help deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.
You will work in the store’s healthcare area and build positive relationships with patients by listening to their concerns and understanding what they need. Your day may include welcoming customers, dispensing prescriptions, making sure medicines are supplied safely, and offering healthcare guidance so people can make informed choices about their wellbeing.
This position is strictly based in a UK store. Applications from remote candidates will not be considered. Candidates outside the UK will only be progressed if they can provide relevant UK qualifications and proof of the right to work in the UK.
Pay
The hourly pay for this position is £13.92, rising to up to £16.64 in selected London locations.
Key duties
- Process prescriptions and help ensure medicines are supplied safely, including ordering, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in store to support the delivery and management of pharmacy services.
- Offer advice and care to patients about medicines, and direct queries to the pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to support safe and lawful prescription dispensing.
- Stay current with in-store innovations and follow operational processes accurately.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions efficiently and use medicines in a way that supports adherence and reduces waste.
You will also work with changing in-store technologies and new systems that improve traditional dispensing workflows, enhance patient safety, and allow more time to focus on patients.
Training and progression
Regular updates and training will be provided to help you build your healthcare knowledge. Career development opportunities may include training as a Pharmacy Technician or moving into the store leadership team.
